Then, in 2022, Elizabeth underwent a very involved operation that included 10 surgical procedures over an 8-hour timespan. On May 10, 2017, Elizabeth’s fifth birthday, she underwent her first surgery with Pooya Hosseinzadeh, M.D. He operated on both hips, working to give her stability and balance.Įlizabeth worked hard at physical therapy and occupational therapy to gain strength and independence. “It took one visit for him to know exactly what was wrong,” Pat remembered. Aunt Pat, who serves as Elizabeth’s caretaker and guardian, started seeking new answers and was directed to Shriners Children’s St. Providers in Kansas were working to alleviate pain but weren’t improving her chances of independent mobility. Most notably, she lacked a necessary confidence in herself.
